Imation Ulysses™ Tape Drive Emulator



The Ulysses Tape Drive Emulator acts as a docking station for Ulysses HDD Cartridges. It was designed to match the physical dimensions and features of an industry-standard half-height tape drive. These characteristics include a soft-loading mechanism that will work with current tape library software and robotics.

The Ulysses Emulator provides the Ulysses HDD Cartridge with a connection to the tape library, and it is forward-compatible with future Ulysses Cartridges, providing higher capacities and/or transfer rate, as they become available.

The Ulysses Emulator is seen by the host as a tape drive, and provides all the features the host expects from a tape drive, including compression, as well as drive information related to cartridge status, diagnostics and performance. The Emulator is a very simple mechanism that can withstand shock and vibration well-beyond industry requirements. The Ulysses Emulator has been tested beyond 250,000 loads and unloads with no failures.
